Weekend Appreciation

A few gems from the weekend to get you through the week:

Annie Leibovitz's West Village home is on the market for $29 million,

It's less than one month until season 4 of Arrested Development
is released on Netflix, and I cannot wait.  I've really been enjoying
AD's facebook page in the meantime.

(These are very fun)

A sneak peek from season 4.

I love the setting and the food in this fall dinner wedding post

Some helpful reminders for your 20s.

Sharp-tongued women: Lady Olenna Tyrell from Game of Thrones
vs. Dowager Countess Violet Crawley - battle of the one-liners.

We Take Ourselves Too Seriously

Following on from yesterday,
I thought it was appropriate to post the parody of
Dove's Real Beauty Sketches campaign.
It is seriously funny.

Self Appreciation

I have entered a new professional phase that requires a lot of confidence,
and I must admit that it's something that I struggle with.
This weekend, I came across two videos that really struck a chord -
not only for my professional life, but for my personal life, as well.

A lot of you have probably seen the Dove Real Beauty Sketches campaign,
but if you haven't, definitely have a look.

The second video is from TED lecture by social psychologist Amy Cuddy
on how your body language shapes who you are.
Amy Cuddy's findings show that striking a power pose for just two minutes
increases your leves of testosterone and decreases your levels of cortisol,
actually making you feel more confident and powerful.
Her moto: fake it until you become it (not just until you make it).

This was my first TED lecture - I'll think I'll be watching more.

For the Love of Maps

I absolutely adore maps.
I have no idea what inspires my obsession, but it's been
a life-long one.  I love decorating with maps (current home has two) -
and these images show how some simple cartography can create
a centre-piece in a room that just draws you to it.

I really love the maps cut into different frames and would die
to get my hands on a vintage school map.

Weekend Appreciation

I know a lot of bloggers do these kinds of posts to
give you something to do over the weekend, but it made more
sense to me to be able to share those things that I
actually had time to appreciate over the weekend -
kick off the week right.

I had a lovely little weekend, despite having to work for a
good portion of it.  The sun FINALLY decided to show itself
in London, and it was actually warm here yesterday!
K and I also went to a new-ish local pub we've been meaning
to check of out for a while now, which involved this fantastic wallpaper:

More on that to follow...

Now for a few gems from the weekend to get you through the week:

A fantastic collection of photographs of Art Appreciation.

Illustrated floor plans for Wes Anderson films.

Inspired by Silver Linings Playbook, I want to learn to dance -
maybe this number by Fred Astaire and Rita Hayworth:

Awesome Lithographs of the classics.

Three sets of downloadable/printable botanical prints: one, two, three
A stop motion music video that must have taken months to complete:

Rifle Paper Co iPhone Cases

Rifle Paper Co's iPhone cases have finally arrived and I am very excited!

I have no idea which one to buy.
I don't have the constitution to make these difficult decisions.

Coveted Space

Elle Decor is currently featuring Mad Men Costume Designer Janie Bryant's
home in LA, and it's decadent and gorgeous.  Bryant shares her Los Feliz home
with her husband, Peter Yozell, a tour manager and cites Liberace and Elvis
as inspiration for her eclectic decor.  A bird and animal motif ties the house together.

This is a seriously amazing closet.
